Description
This J.P. Sauer & Sohn Model 1913 is a German-made compact semi-automatic pistol chambered in 7.65mm Browning, commonly known in the United States as .32 ACP. Serial number 153491 places it within the late Variant 3 production range, generally estimated at approximately serial numbers 90,000 through 160,900. The Model 1913 was manufactured from 1913 through the late 1920s, making this example most likely a 1920s-production pistol.
Designed as a striker-fired, straight-blowback pocket pistol, the Model 1913 uses a fixed barrel surrounded by a concentric recoil spring. Its distinctive knurled rear cap retains the removable breechblock and firing mechanism. Other period features include a heel-style magazine release, frame-mounted manual safety, fixed sights and hard-rubber grip panels with the Sauer & Sohn “S&S” emblem. The later Variant 3 incorporated an additional sear-blocking safety beneath the primary safety lever, a feature visible on this pistol.
The pistol retains a strong dark finish with honest handling wear, thinning and scattered marks consistent with its age. It includes two detachable magazines and a fitted vintage leather flap holster. This is a desirable interwar German pocket pistol with recognizable early Sauer engineering and strong collector appeal.
